What is a Log Book Service?
A log book service is when your car is serviced in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer specifications. It involves checking and/or replacing certain components and fluids on the vehicle at the time intervals recommended by the manufacturer.
Why do I need a log book service?
To ensure your vehicle is kept in top mechanical condition as per the vehicle manufacturers replacement timeframes and to ensure you maintain your vehicle's warranty.
What happens if I miss a Service?
The main risks of skipping a service is a breakdown of oil or the sludging of oil, both of which will destroy an engine and drive line components and likely void any warranty. Along with your air fuel and cabin filters becoming choked and not enabling your vehicle to run to its optimal performance.
Do you have Loan cars and how much do they cost?
Sorry, no loan cars.
Will I lose my New Car Warranty if I don't go back to the dealer?
Absolutely not. In fact, manufacturers are not allowed to force you to take the vehicle back to them for servicing although they imply it keeps your vehicle warranty intact. Having your vehicle serviced by an independent workshop like GN Mechanical & Automotive not only saves you money, but the whole process is more convenient without affecting your new car warranty at all. I have lost my Log Book, do I need it?
Generally yes, although some European vehicles now have digital logbooks. If you had a paper booklet GN Mechanical & Automotive can offer a new RAS book but service records will only be from the issue of this book.
Do you provide Digital reports for the work you have done?
Yes you can receive a printed copy and digital should you require this.
Do you provide Digital reports of what's wrong with my car?
Yes this is included in our service inspection report.
How long will the service take?
We say to allow for us to have your vehicle for the day as GN Mechanical & Automotive don't do timed bookings. It works on a first in best dressed basis but we will endeavor to work around your time schedule as best as possible as long as it is within the timeframes for us to complete the service and necessary paperwork.
How much will my service cost?
GN Mechanical & Automotive estimate each & every service so please get in contact with us and we can provide you an estimate.
How can I pay for my Service?
GN Mechanical & Automotive accept Eftpos/credit card, direct debit and cash
When are you Open?
GN Mechanical & Automotive are open from 7.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Closed weekends and public holidays.
What is the earliest time I can bring my car in?
You can bring you car in at any time after 7am on weekdays.
Can I drop off my car after hours?
Only if we are notified prior to confirm drop off times. (Note that GN Mechanical & Automotive don't have a key drop off box).
Can I collect my car after hours?
Only if all invoices are paid up & again only if we are notified prior to collecting the vehicle.
Can you pick up my car from home?
No, sorry. GN Mechanical & Automotive don't offer a vehicle pickup service.
Can you drop me home when I deliver my car for servicing or repair?
Yes but only for drop offs between 7am & 7.15am
What happens if something is not right after my car service?
GN Mechanical & Automotive take great pride in our work, but if something doesn't seem quite right then please contact us immediately and describe the issue and we will endeavor to get you back in as soon as possible to inspect the possible issue. We are happy to sort out any problems you might have. Plus you have the added assurance of our Repco Nationwide Warranty if you find yourself out of town.
Will you give me reminders when my next sercive is due?
Yes, GN Mechanical & Automotive send these out monthly.
Can my car be serviced at the same time it is being repaired?
Generally yes, depends on bookings & workload at the time - but it may be required to stay over a couple of days to complete works pending what is required.
How do I book my car in for a service?
Either through our online booking page, by calling into the office or call our office.
How often should I really service my car?
If in warranty then to the warranty scheduled km's / time which ever occurs first and then when out of warranty we recommend 1 0,000kms and 6 months depending on driving conditions and total km's travelled each year.
I don't drive much, do I still need a service?
Yes, depending on the age and condition of your car GN Mechanical & Automotive recommend as a minimum an annual service.
Can you fix other things while my car is being serviced?
Yes, if faults/issues are found and we have time in the day we will call each customer with a report and repair estimate prior to proceeding unless prior authority has been received. This depends on the extent of the repair found at the time.
Can you wash my car?
No, GN Mechanical & Automotive do not wash vehicle. We de-grease and wash oil leaks as required and wash down items that are required from carrying out the service.
Do you use good quality oils and parts?
Yes, GN Mechanical & Automotive only use quality oils and parts as we stand by our nationwide warranty
Do you check my brakes during a service?
Yes, all brake pad and rotors are checked and measured, drum brake shoes measured and if required wheels removed and brake drums inspected (only when required).
